Weekend wrap-up

Last weekend was my last weekend as a single woman! WooHoo!!

Friday night Jamie and I just relaxed and had our own little happy hour on our back deck even though it was still hot as all get up!

Saturday I picked the kiddos up from their dad's and we had a quick breakfast at Panera before they went out of town for a couple of days. We also stopped at Five Below and I picked up oodles of new chapsticks. I may be slightly addicted to Blistex. When I got back home I tried a couple of the new Bud Light LimeARitas Jamie had brought home - pretty tasty!

We finally headed out and and our 1st stop was the wedding cake baker to bring directions to the boat and then we went a few doors down to Hobby Lobby. THAT is the coolest store. Right up there with Ikea in my book! We wandered around and around. We came out with the picture frames we were looking for and the cake knife and the unity candle for the wedding but we also came out with other cool stuff! We found our place cards, a really cool picture/sign for our home we plan to put up sometime after our wedding, some make-up bags for the bridesmaids gifts and other stuff I can't remember now. That's definitely a store I want to return to when I have more money and time! We were starving by the time we finished there so we stopped at McD's for a cheeseburger and fries before we hit the CASINO!!

We went to the new Maryland Live Casino at Arundel Mills. Luckily they built a parking garage with the casino because parking at that mall already sucked but they've only completed one set of elevators. The line for the elevator wasn't organized at all so we just ended up taking the stairs down and then back up later the 5 flights in 100+ degree heat. Yuck.

The casino was fun. I usually play the penny slots and there were tons to choose from. The penny slots there are set up with a minimum 30 cent bid and go up in increments of 30 cents - unlike Vegas and Atlantic City where you truly can gamble one penny and pretty much any other increment you want per game. We had a couple of drinks there while we lost some/won some. We wanted to go to Buffalo Wild Wings for dinner but at 9:30 pm the hostess said there was a waiting list with 20 people already on it and people probably wouldn't begin leaving until after some 10:00 UFC fight. So we wandered next door to the old standby Chevys. We paced ourselves on the chips and salsa so we wouldn't be too stuffed for dinner. I had the fish tacos and chose the salmon instead of tilapia. They were good and I was stuffed!

Sunday Jamie & I went to the nail salon for pedis (getting honeymoon ready) and I wanted a new full set (getting my fingers camera ready for our big day). Then we went back to Arundel Mills Mall. We used a giftcard for lunch at Longhorn Steakhouse. I had a skinny blackberry sangria that was yummy and a raspberry pecan salad with a loaded baked potato.

We split an appetizer of firecracker chicken. We wanted the bacon wrapped potato wedges but they were out of bacon. After we ate we headed to the mall to get some "honeymoon clothes". On the way home we stopped at Redbox and got "One for the Money" with Katherine Heigl.  It was pretty cute. We also stopped at Dairy Queen and got blizzards... that was basically my dinner.
Monday was back-to-work as usual for me. It's going to be a fast, short week. My mom flies in from Seattle on Wednesday night and I'm off Friday for wedding prep and then the wedding is on SATURDAY!!

4 + 4

The 4th of July was definitely a HOT one! Jamie and I did stuff around the house in the morning (me = indoor housekeeping, Jamie = outdoor yardwork).  Then we had to sit down and seriously crunch some financial numbers - all of our final wedding payments are due in the next week! Let's just say that paying for an entire wedding/honeymoon on our own is not cheap and can be quite overwhelming when you do the final math!

Early evening we had an appointment for the final walk through on the boat we're getting married on. The owner is SOOOO sweet. He listened to what I wanted as our menu and he's custom designing a menu for our approval on Monday.

After that appointment we went to the Inner Harbor in Baltimore. It was SOOOO hot and it was starting to fill up with people so we walked over to the Hard Rock Cafe to grab a drink and a bite to eat. It was too hot for a heavy meal or a lot of alcohol so I had a glass of wine while I perused the menu. We ordered nachos and bruschetta to share and I had a pomegranate martini.

After dinner we walked and sweated around the Harbor until we found a patch of grass to plant ourselves for the fireworks show. The fireworks were nice and I saw some that I had never seen before.

Afterwards Baltimore Police were QUICK to shut down the harbor. The police were out in full force making sure everyone left right away instead of hanging out at the Harbor. We thought we were lucky when we found a parking space in a really close parking lot. The problem was traffic was horrendous getting out of Baltimore after the fireworks and our parking lot was a cluster of cars jockeying for position to all exit through the one exit gate to pay by "credit card only" and there was only one lot attendant handling the credit card machine. We ended up sitting across the street for over an hour just watching the debacle in our parking lot until the mess cleared out a little.

The 5th of July I woke up and did my P90X Plyometrics dvd. That really is one of my favorites so far of the P90X dvds I've done. I was covered in sweat when I was done and burned 397 calories in that hour according to my heart rate monitor!

It was still hot as all get out that afternoon! We had an appointment for our final meeting with the florist and then we grabbed lunch at Panera Bread. Afterwards we hit up the grocery store to replace all the items we had lost in last week's storm. I cooked dinner (made my own turkey meatballs - but they needed more seasoning) and picked up the kiddos for dinner with us.

After I brought them back to their dad's I came home, had a glass of wine and passed out!

So the other "4" in my post title besides blogging about the 4th of July... this morning when I got dressed for work I was able to slide into a pair of my size 4 capris!! Yay me!

Lunch (fish tacos) and margaritas with the ladies from work for my "bachelorette luncheon"

Power outage from the storms so me and my son had mother/son day at the mall.

Still no power so we stayed in a hotel in the 100 degree heat. My son was in heaven because he got to order room service AND eat on his bed!

Yes - he's in there somewhere under all those Hilton pillows!

What a life huh?

On the ride home - wiped out from stayin up til 1am watching a movie in the hotel.

During the month of June I did AWFUL with my workouts (see workout log page) but I'm determined to get back to it!
