This Week's Workout Schedule

Well obviously this post sat in my draft folder for too long. Here it is Thursday and it is titled "This Week's Workout Schedule".

This is what I was GOING to attempt for the week.

Big dreamer... 

Monday - Run 5 Miles or 5K
Tuesday - TurboFire HIIT 25 + Upper 20 dvds
Wednesday - Run 30 - 45 minutes
Thursday - TurboFire HIIT 30 + Lower 20 dvds
Friday - Run 30 -45 minutes
Saturday - REST DAY - it's my BIRTHDAY!!
Sunday - TurboFire Stretch 40 dvd

Monday I didn't workout. Hubby brought wine home. The guy at the liquor store told him about a new drink to make - a moscatini. It's moscato with a shot of Grey Goose. I may or may not have had two of these. They were YUMMY!

My son text me from his dad's house again this week. He's having problems with his dad wanting him to dress basically like a nerd and not letting him dress the way he wants and always has (jeans and an athletic t-shirt). I feel bad for him. Who wants to be uncomfortable with their clothes in 8th grade?

Tuesday I didn't work out either. We were having a board meeting/working session that took up most of the day. Then afterwards the whole office went next door for a short happy hour.

Wednesday I FINALLY got to the gym for a lunchtime 10K training run. I still had to take a couple of one minute walks but I didn't feel too bad. 

Shortly after lunch - 2:30 to be exact - the rest of my day immediately went downhill. Ex-husband texted me that the kids had a track meet at 5. That evening. News to me. It was SUPPOSED to be my night for dinner with the kids. I was SUPPOSED to be leaving working at 3:30 to pick them up. I was furious. Furious at the kids for not letting me know in advance. I pay for iphones for both of them and they couldn't even take the time to text me in the morning and tell me about the change in plans? Whew I was hot! So hot I took their phones until Sunday. I did calm down a bit and realized that I could just go ahead and activate the parental controls on their phones so they could only text or call me and their dad. Can you believe their dad actually asked if I'd add his girlfriend to the list? Is he crazy? Of course I didn't! What a nut job. Seriously.

I Need a Do-Over of Last Week

Last week I couldn't seem to get it all together - the eating right, the exercising, the running around and dropping off and then picking up of the kiddos. I felt like I was doing some kind of lopsided juggling act.

Monday was hubby's day off from work so he was able to pick up the kiddos from track practice and cook dinner. I didn't work out that day because my quads were so sore from Sunday's Tunnel Run. 

Tuesday I left work early to pick up the kids from track practice. I found myself doing a lot of snacking from the time we got home and throughout the time I was preparing dinner. 

Wednesday was the kids' night for dinner with their dad. Hubby was flying late so I stayed at work a couple of extra hours to make up some time. I did FINALLY resume working out and did a 10K training run during my lunch time. 

Thursday I didn't workout and Friday I didn't either. I only got in one workout during the entire work week. Booooo... 

Thursday evening the kids weren't where they were supposed to be after I got off of work for me to pick up.  Their father had decided to make other arrangements on MY week for what they would be doing after school that day. I was 5 minutes from picking them up when I found out the kids weren't going to be where they were supposed to be so I had to drive 20 minutes out of my way to pick them up. Total douche move. Total. 

In addition - he's the soccer coach for my daughter's team. He sent out an email to all the parents that day that he was shortening practice from 8:30pm to 8pm. I got to the soccer field right at 8pm and then had to sit in my car, along with all the other parents while he continued to hold practice until 8:15. NO consideration for other people's time. None. Then I still had to wait while my daughter went to his car to grab her stuff out of there so I didn't even leave the field till 8:20. We didn't get home till almost 9 and she still had to eat dinner, shower and do some homework.    

Friday morning was a rough one - I had a mini blow-up at the kids on the drive in to drop them off at school. Of course it was because of their father. Of course. Evidently he has decided to go against the agreement he and I made two years ago to send the kids to the high school closest to my house - in the better county - and has told them (but not me as of yet) that they can go to the crappy high school in his county - closest to his house. I mean God forbid he have to figure out how to get them to and from school for a couple of years while I've done it the past 8 years that we have been separated/divorced. 

Okay - over ex-husband rant. There's just not enough space in the blogosphere for me to keep going on about all the crap he pulls.

Last week I was able to enjoy one of my favorite combos - cottage cheese with cantaloupe.

Friday afternoon they let us out of work early!! 

So I picked up the kiddos and we had some fro-yo. No discussion about my little blow-up that morning.

Saturday was a very busy day for our household.

It was a pretty flat course compared to last Sunday's race. I still had to take 3 one minute walk breaks but I was able to keep track of my pace with my Runkeeper app. I need to work on my breathing technique I think.

I did burn 421 calories...

And finished with an "official chip time" of 34:36. My PR was my last 5K in June of 34:34 so I was only 2 seconds off from that!

After the 5K we headed home to get everybody some food in their bellys and dressed and ready because mini me had a soccer game at noon. She asked me to get some action shots of her so I stayed on the sidelines most of the game. I definitely need a new camera though - my iphone pics came out so much better than my old digital camera pics.

After the game we had to hurry home, feed the kiddos again, shower and change again and get the kiddos dropped off at their friends' house because we had a wedding to go to. The ceremony was in DC at 4 and the reception not until 6 so we just planned to get to the reception site a little early and have a drink at the restaurant next door because even through all the rushing around - there was no way we were going to make it to that 4:00 ceremony.

Sunday was a lazyish day. We needed it. I needed it. Hubby took the cars to the car wash, I did laundry, the kids did homework. We all watched the Ravens and Redskins games simultaneously on the tvs we put side-by-side again. 

I ordered Chipotle on-line for lunch for us all. Hubby went out and picked it up at half-time. Mini-me's is the burrito at the end. She wanted to try one since she's always gotten the bowls before. She was actually able to eat almost the whole darn thing! She must be getting ready to grow again because that thing was humungous! 

After the games ended hubby took the kids out to buy their birthday presents for me. Here's a pic he sent me while they were out. He was totally embarrassing the kiddos. They're at that perfect (teen) age for that too!  

I put new sheets on their beds while they were out and finally showered and got out of my pjs. 

After I brought them back to their dad's house for his week, hubby and I hung out and caught up on our back deck. I was still full from Chipotle - I didn't even need to eat dinner.

Unfortunately I didn't make it to the grocery store anyway. Those Sunday 1:00 football games really dig into the day. I have to start planning better - groceries, meals, workouts.... everything. I'm sure a lot of it is my time management. - something I definitely always need to work on. Let's see how I can pull off this week. I'm only working 4 days and then I'm off for a long birthday weekend!

What a Week!

Last week blogging got away from me!

Hubby had to stay in Delaware for work for most of the week. Here's a pic he sent to me of him all decked out in his gear.

Wednesday I got in a 10K training lunchtime run.

After work I picked the kids up for dinner and then for dessert had one of the Healthy Choice Greek Frozen Yogurt Cups. They sure are TINY - but I put a little squirt of chocolate syrup on it and it was enough to satisfy my after dinner sweet tooth.

I'll take being a little high in carbs since I was so low in fat and high in protein!

Thursday's lunchtime workout I used the My Fitness Class App and did a 30 minute Core HIIT workout. I really need to remember to use this app more - I paid $9.99 for one month's access! 

Thursday's carbs, fat and protein weren't too bad once again!

Friday the 13th I got in another 10K training run during lunch.

Friday evening we attended mini me's soccer game. They blew the other team out! The score was 11-0 and mini me scored either 5 or 6 of those goals!

Saturday morning I got up and went dress shopping for my co-worker friend's wedding coming up on this Saturday. I lucked out and found something within the first 20 minutes of shopping. Loft is usually always good to me!  

Saturday evening hubby and I headed out to see his brother and his fiance who were in town for a wedding. We hung out at the VFW while they attended the wedding and then we met them back at their hotel after the wedding.

Fortunately I was the DD for the evening so I didn't feel awful (just tired) early Sunday morning when we had to get up for our 5K. We didn't get home until about 1am and we had to be up at 6:30 for the race.

This was the second time we've done the Fort McHenry Tunnel Race. I don't remember why we didn't do it last year - but we did it in 2011 and my time was 37:11. I had just started running seriously in that year so I was determined to beat my time this year.

Well - it was probably the combination of sleepiness and lack of water the previous day but I was exhausted and started feeling claustrophobic in that tunnel around mile 2. I ended up doing a kind of walk/run for that last mile.

The race isn't chip timed so I used my heart rate monitor and came up with this time:

The "official" bib time they posted however was 37:28. Slower than two years ago. Next year I'm determined to do this race again and properly prepare the day/night before with proper sleep and hydration.

After the race I got to meet my idol Ernestine Shepherd. She is a 77 year old body builder! She was the sweetest, nicest person. I hope I'm still working out when I'm her age. And that I look as good as she does!

When we got home, showered, and ate - the football games were on. At the same time. Hubby is a Ravens fan and I'm a Redskins fan. Rather than watching our games in separate rooms - hubby pulled the tv from the kitchen into the family room so we could keep an eye on both games at the same time!

The kids came back from their dad's house on Sunday evening - not TERRIBLY late - but of course - never on time. We had their new favorite for dinner - pork loin roast that I had bought at Aldi's. They ate it all up too - I didn't even have leftovers to bring in to work for lunch on Monday.

The Seahawks and the 49ers were playing the late game. I have both Wilson and Kaepernick as my Fantasy Football Quarterbacks so after a quick Facebook poll I went ahead and started Wilson. Good decision to since he ended up getting me more points. I stayed up way too late watching the game since there was an hour weather delay and paid for it Monday morning.

Hubby was off from work on Monday so he was able to pick the kiddos up from cross country practice for me. I got caught up on a lot of stuff at work and am hoping to have a pretty productive week both at work and at home.
